SUNY Albany’s new One Stop Shop will provide a single vibrant welcoming place for students and visitors, adapting underutilized campus space within the historic Eduard Durell Stone facility. One Stop Shop student centers enable face-to-face interaction while still utilizing online services distribution. Integration of technology and an emphasis on self-service stations promote independence among the student body, allowing them to solve problems quickly on their own or utilize staff help.
Through collaboration with campus stakeholders, the strategic importance and student-centered goals of this project will be realized in a few key interventions. A winter garden provides a destination for students in all seasons, while allowing for an additional 4,500 square feet of valuable program area to be gained. New stairwells provide safe egress and enhance circulation flow. Coupled with the removal of the south interior stair, connectivity and transparency between the various departments within the One Stop space is achieved.
The Student Service One Stop Shop offers a pleasurable service experience for students in a well-organized and welcoming environment while consolidating essential services in one convenient location at the heart of the UAlbany campus.
