The A|r team collaborated on the design of a new 14,000 sf central support facility for DASNY OMH on the Rockland Psychiatric Center campus.
The building design draws from the historic architecture of the Rockland campus, deriving its materiality from the existing high-rise building’s terra cotta window detailing and stucco facades and interpreting them in a glass fiber reinforced concrete rainscreen system paired with an earth tone brick.
A large, sloped roof connects the two programmatic “boxes” of the building at either end – a large high bay workshop space and smaller office space – bringing the seemingly unrelated programs into a cohesive whole.
