Canalside by Architectural Resources

Design Brief

Project Location: Buffalo, NY

The Canalside project unites downtown Buffalo with its waterfront. The former Memorial Auditorium site is revitalized with the redevelopment of a vibrant mixed-use district centered around Lake Erie-level water features in alignment with the historic Erie Canal and Commercial Slip. The design embraces the commercial and industrial legacy of this national landmark site while offering a robust public space to be enjoyed year round by all. Visitors can boat on the canals during the summer and have fun skating and ice-biking on over 500 linear feet of refrigerated rink in winter. Multiple bridges cross the canal, offering dramatic views of the district and convenient access to entertainment, shopping, dining, businesses, and residences.

The project was completed in collaboration with C&S Companies.
