Progressive and functional office environments have become increasingly critical to long-term business success and worker satisfaction. In pursuit of this, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and Invest Buffalo Niagara retained Architectural Resources to perform an Office Space Needs Analysis. Both organizations needed to determine the most appropriate office space type, size, location, and amenities to showcase their missions but to also meet their economic parameters.
Through workshop sessions and an existing space inventory, A|r developed a space program and a list of user requirements. Once potential locations were identified and visited, A|r completed test fits for the top three office locations.
After the space needs analysis was completed, A|r was hired again for the design and construction of the organizations’ new 12,000 square foot space. The resulting design reflects the unique identities of both organizations while simultaneously supporting their shared program. This new work environment creates opportunities for a wide variety of experiences, from individual focus to energetic shared collaboration space. The suite showcases formal conference rooms, open workspaces, private offices, phone booths, and a breakout work lounge all oriented to boast views to Lake Erie and to maximize natural daylighting. These spaces, though tailored to the clients’ current needs, also offer flexibility through such devices as pivoting glass doors, planning for future technology, and through adaptable areas for future employee growth. The focal point of the project welcomes visitors into the suite’s entry, where A|r designed a custom waving metal ceiling in collaboration with local manufacturer Rigidized Metals.
